A Walk at Lotus Pond

Recently, I went for an evening walk to Lotus Pond in Banjara Hills. The Lotus Pond is one of the lesser-known gems of the Hyderabad city parks.  The walking path in the park circles around a beautiful water body, a part of which seems to be perennially covered with beautiful whitish pink lotus. The path is also lined with nice trees on the other side giving relief from direct sun. There are some small boulders in the park that serve as a resting place as well as place for climbing and playing for little kids. For bird lovers, one can spot egrets, herons, ducks and a few other varieties of the bird species.

Here are a few pictures from our walk.

Just when we were concluding our walk, we were greeted with a rain shower. With the water falling over the lake, mist in the air, greenery all around and a gentle breeze, for a moment, the entire experience fooled us to believe that we were in a different city or even a different country!

A couple of pictures taken during the rain-

All in all, a wonderful park and an enjoyable walking experience. Walkers may note that the path is around 0.6km and is relatively clean with separate dustbins for plastic and non-plastic waste.  The only catch is that the park closes at 6:00 pm in the evening! So, for working professionals, the best time to go is either in the morning when it is open from 6:00 am until 10 am or during the weekend.

Do you have a favourite walking path in your city?
